Towards a Mediterranean Battleship Iran

Two Iranian warships through the Suez Canal have been reported to the Mediterranean Sea on Saturday. This is the second time Iranian warships through the canal under the authority of the Egyptian government.

As reported by news agency Press TV, the two warships from the fleet to 18 Iranian navy has been in the Mediterranean Sea. Iranian warships first came back to the Suez Canal since the Iranian Revolution in 1979, was in February last year and instantly angered Israel.

Since the Iranian navy in the Mediterranean Sea last year, ?Fleet 18 will continue to carry the message of peace and friendship among the countries in the region, said the Iranian Navy admiral, Habibullah Sayyari.

It is not known where the two Iranian warships were headed, which consisted of one destroyer and the logistics ships. However, semi-government news agency, ISNA, reported the ships set sail for Syria.

Sayyari said ?that Iran's presence in the Mediterranean fleet was to demonstrate the country's military power to the countries in the region. He also confirmed that this is evidence that international sanctions would not be able to rein in Iran's military technology advances.

Since 2008, Iranian naval forces are actively operating in the Gulf of Aden and surrounding areas to keep their tankers from pirate attacks. The move is in line with the international campaign to eradicate piracy by Somali pirates.
