Biography
Katy Perry was born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson named on October 25, 1984 in California, USA. Katy decides to use his mother's maiden name because of fear thought with actress Kate Hudson.
Since childhood, Katy was used to listening to gospel music. He often participated in activities in the church choir. Before deciding to move to Los Angeles, Katy had actually been off the album titled Katy Hudson by label Red Hill Records.
Career
Katy never released an album titled the same spirit as its name in 2001 as Katy Hudson. But the album was less successful. He later recorded an album with production team The Matrix and complete most of the 2004-05 solo albums, both of which none was released.
At the age of 18 years, Katy decided to move to Los Angeles and had joined the team The Matrix. With Glen Ballard, he had recorded three songs that bear the title The Next Big Thing given Blender magazine in October 2004. One of the songs recorded with Ballard finally released as the soundtrack to the film The Sisterhood OF THE TRAVELING PANTS.
In 2007, Katy signed a contract with Capitol Music Group and changed into his stage name Katy Perry. He then released his first single, titled Ur So Gay in November. The song is enough to suck the public attention though not listed in the charts.
Gained early fame after the release of second single I Kissed a Girl in 2008. This time, Katy had topped the charts internationally. Then, in the same year, the first album PERRY ONE OF THE BOYS became the 33rd best selling album worldwide in 2008.
Teenage Dream album was released in August 2010 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. This album hit singles include California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework, ET and Last Friday Night (TGIF), all of which has topped the charts in Billboard Hot 100.
With a single E.T. perched on the charts to number one on May 12, 2011, Katy became the first artist in history to spend a whole year, for 52 consecutive weeks in the top 10 Billboard Hot 100.
Not just struggling with singing and playing music only, Katy chance to be a guest judge on the seventh series of the British television show, The X Factor. Katy also released a perfume called Purr. In the world of film, Katy's also got a part to be the voice of Smurfette in the film in 2011, The Smurfs.
